This web site is hosted by pair Networks. I have been a customer of theirs since September 7, 2001 and they have given great service at a good value. They may not be the absolute cheapest hosting company but I believe they are the best.
I have registered the .com addresses I am responsible for (theboykos.com) with pairNIC, and the .ca addresses I am responsible for (crhanb.ca, nbrm.ca, shrr.ca) with Sibername.ca. I have been pleased with both services.
I edit my site with Notepad (yes, just a plain old text editor) and upload my files with WS_FTP LE from Ipswitch.
You may have noticed the standard headers on my pages. I use server-side includes (SSI) provided by the good folks at pair.com so that I have one menu file for each section. If I need to add something to the menu for that section, I change one file, FTP it up, and the whole site is updated. It's almost like magic! The sidebars you may see in some sections are also maintained using SSI.
I'm trying to use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) more and more. CSS provides a better way to lay out web pages than tables. I'm still learning.
