Miramichi was amalgamated from the towns of Newcastle, Chatham, and outlying communities. It spans the Miramichi River. Railroad action in Miramichi takes place in these two areas: The Miramichi yard was fairly busy until the UPM-Kymmene shutdown. However, one can usually see some motive power there.
The former UPM-Kymmene (former Repap) mill in Miramichi (former Newcastle) owned one locomotive, #711 (an SW1200RS, formerly CN 1376).
The Ultramar bulk fuel depot in Miramichi (former Chatham). Note the CN tank train here. 17-car trains are brought here and unloaded in 3-4 hours. The LaFarge cement plant is just visible on the left.
The LaFarge cement plant in Chatham. It is only open during the summer. Some of the worst tracks in New Brunswick go to this plant!
