NB Southern Railway Locomotives

NB Southern has eight GP38s. This page will describe three GP38-3s, originally GP35s from Southern Pacific, and rebuilt by CLN Industries to GP38-3 specifications. They are numbered 9801, 9802, and 9803. They were built as GP35s, but they were rebuilt prior to service on NBSR. The work done included:

• Replacing their turbochargers with roots blowers
• Derating the prime mover from 2500 HP to 2000 HP
• Upgrading the electronics with a ZTR microprocessor system
• Repainting the units in the current green scheme
