Dale Wilson RIP

I was saddened to hear that Dale Wilson died on May 5.

Dale was a well-known railway historian and photographer who wrote several books, many focused on the Algoma Central.

I have one of his books, Algoma Eastern Railway, and I’ve read a couple of others via our local library. He was a great writer.

I believe he was the driving force behind Nickel Belt Rails, which published most if not all of his books. Nickel Belt also published The Sudbury Streetcars by John D. Knowles and Prairie Cinders by Lawrence A. Stuckey.

He was 86.

  1. Algoma Eastern Railway is a book I treasure. His writing style was fantastic, and the level of detail just outstanding. He leaves a great legacy of wonderful research on railway history.
